The Process
A thoughtful approach from beginning to end.
Starting a garden can feel like a big step, especially if you’re not quite sure where to begin.
Our role is to walk you through it in a way that feels clear and steady. Nothing rushed. Nothing overly complicated. Just a process that unfolds naturally, with good communication and a shared understanding of what we’re working toward.
Step One — A Conversation
Everything begins with a simple conversation.
Before anything is scheduled, we take a few minutes to talk through your space, your ideas, and what you’re hoping for. It gives us both a chance to see if the project feels like the right fit.
From there, we move into a consultation where we can take a closer look at your home, your layout, and how you want the space to function day to day.
Step Two — The Garden Plan
Once we have a clear direction, we begin shaping the design.
This is where everything starts to come together. The layout of the space, the structure of the garden, the materials, and the planting approach.
If there are a lot of options, we scale it back to the goal. What are we trying to create here, and what supports that in a meaningful way.
You’ll receive a thoughtful plan that feels aligned with your home and the way you want to use the space.
Step Three — Planning & Preparation
Before any installation begins, we take time to prepare everything properly.
Materials are sourced. The timeline is set. Any additional elements, like plumbing or electrical, are coordinated if needed.
This part of the process is quieter, but it’s important. It ensures that when the work begins, everything moves forward in a way that feels organized and intentional.
Step Four — Installation
This is where the space begins to take shape.
Depending on the project, there may be some initial demo or clearing before anything new is installed. From there, we prepare the ground, build out raised beds or structures, and begin planting.
Throughout this phase, communication stays consistent. You’ll know what’s happening and what to expect as things progress.
At the end, there’s a moment where everything comes together and the space is ready to be stepped into.
Step Five — Learning the Garden
The work doesn’t end once everything is planted.
Part of what we care about is making sure you feel comfortable in your space. That you understand what’s growing, how to care for it, and how to continue tending it in a way that feels manageable.
You’re welcome to be as involved as you’d like. Some clients prefer to step in and learn hands-on, while others take a more guided approach.
Either way, the goal is that you feel confident moving forward.
A Timeline That Follows the Seasons
Every project moves at its own pace, but most follow a natural rhythm through the year.
Fall is often a time for planning and design.
Winter allows for sourcing and preparation.
Spring is when installation and planting begin.
From start to finish, most projects take around five to six months, depending on the scope and the season.
A process that feels steady.
There’s no pressure to have everything figured out before you begin.
You don’t need a perfect vision. You just need a starting point. From there, we walk through it together, step by step, shaping something that feels right for your home and the way you want to live in it.
